A poem about love's fleeting joy

Blossoming love during a springtime stroll

Lost in the magic, you were pouring for me

Embracing until we hear April thunder roll

We parted beneath the cherry blossom tree

*************

Falling pink petals as I was tripping over you

Our chemistry makes my world Crayola bright

Vibrant purple, vivid yellow, and summer blue

The way you looked at me was my favorite sight

*************

Why did you let your cherry blossom girl blow away?

I bloomed while you couldn’t grow past being a seed.

Time marches on, and you remain stuck in your gray

You were what I wanted, but you weren’t what I need

*************

Fall is coming, and I’m falling in love with me

Creating magic as I author the story of my life

Have you ever visited our cherry blossom tree?

Or did you cut it down with your winter knife?

This poem is the third in my series, where I title each poem after a track listing from Kacey Musgraves’s star-crossed album. I’m looking forward to sharing my creative challenge with my readers. Thank you for the support!
