Scrub-jay lost his mate

Now he's been searching, soul searching,

noticed she ran away

Scrub-jay lost his mate

All alone and the others stare and sing

But he doesn't carry the tune anymore

Scrub-jay lost his mate

He came and asked me,

Didn't know, said search now! Go on, go!

Scrub-Jay lost his mate

But scrub-jay chooses a mate for life

There won't be another wife

Scrub-jay lost his mate

Yet he keeps on hanging around

And now a sadness grows in his eyes

Scrub-jay lost his mate

The seasons have all gone by twice

But I still see that blue bird from time to time

Scrub-jay lost his mate

Never did he find her

But told me if I ever see her, he's waiting and to remind her.
