My head hurts
My eyes burn
My hands shake
My mind is empty
I’m burned out
But I can’t take a hiatus
There isn’t time for a hiatus
I’ve got to keep going
But I can’t keep going
I’m going to melt if I keep going
But I have to keep going
I need a break
But they won’t let me
I’m not allowed to take a break
Otherwise I won’t get anywhere
I’ll be stagnant
I’ll be unsuccessful
But what if I want to be stagnant
What if I want to be unsuccessful
My type of success doesn't look like theirs
Their type of success is material
My type of success is emotional
It’s impulsive
It’s passionate
It’s vehement
I don’t want a life of things,
I want a life of feelings.

Totally dude! Rock on!
Yes, how do you breathe when life is making you flow like a river without end or beginning!?! Not easy, am not there now, but at my age I do have my own schedule for once. For Once!
Hoooooooooo!!! Nailed it!
Been here. But I too must go on. Success demands that I do. Life demands that of me too.
This is a very relatable poem. I’m sure many people can identify with feeling this way. Great job!
Hi Beau. Having been through something similar a few years ago I appreciate how your words so accurately describe what is going on in these circumstances. There is light believe me, there is.
Hello existential crisis of capitalists on a climate-threatened planet in a nutshell! The message is delivered so well in the pacing too. Hammered right into my heart there. Can't wait to read more!
Marvelous! Life of values and not of materials.
One word: awesome! 😊💖💕
Discovered you through Call Me Les who shared your work in VSS on Facebook! Stunning poem! Something that also really resonated with me. Thank you for your work! :)
This really resonated with me. Do you mind if I highlight you as a feature poem for poetry weekend in the Vocal Social Society? https://www.facebook.com/groups/376191867241324
I worked in residential care for 3 years. This resonates with me so hard.
A good commentary on today's society and the need to get ahead in lieu of pausing to smell the roses.
