Just a month ago her nails were polished and long
Now broken, uneven, and even one gone
The last one is in reference to a broken toe...
Her body still learning all the new steps to go
Even then it didn't cause her to skip a beat
Still working more hours and staying light on her feet
There is a stillness in her mind that initially felt wrong
Yet, as weeks have passed...
The gray matter between her ears...
Finally has a sense of feeling like it belongs
As she stares off into the distance into the pitch-black night
A slight grin forms on her face and she knows...
Everything is going to be more than just alright
