Broken

We All Are...

We are all broken, shattered and torn

In some way or another

Surrounding ourselves with sharp, jagged edges

Thinking these barriers protect us while

We push others and their love and caring

Far away

Keeping our distance

Denying ourselves this basic human desire

To be loved, held, and wanted

Needing closeness, intimacy, and love

But instead, we hide our painful fractured souls

Where no one can easily see or judge

The frailness that shames us

Our brokenness we see as weakness

Pretending we are good, whole, and complete

Yet desperately needing the glue

The balm

The healing

That is only soothed by love

We are all broken, shattered, and torn

And alone

Always alone
