To discover the bright light,

She travels through the dark,

The darkest dark,

Where the pain is constant,

Horrifying and heavy.

~

She journeys to the very depths

Of her soul

Fighting

The fear

And agony.

~

It’s cold

And bleak

And brutal

But necessary

And miraculous.

~

Before she emerges,

She succumbs

And disintegrates

Under the weight of the world

She created.

~

The darkness is a part of her:

It will never go away.

It seems infinite,

Yet all she has to do is

Spread her wings.

~

For even the butterfly emerges

With the blackest black

Streaking through her body

And is beautiful

Because of it.
