Letting Go of a Toxic Relationship

Bonnie and Clyde, Bleach and Ammonia

Our gravitational pull kept us grounded in years of love and deceit,

becoming addicted to the wounds we gave each other.

I bled bleach.

You bled ammonia.

Why were we so surprised to the murder of the other?

The gas produced can blind you

but you didn’t take a chance on it failing,

keeping me sightless with the hollowness of your words

I took for stark truth.

I guess I should thank you for not letting me see

how vindictive you truly are.

But I felt it, Oh God did I feel it.

With that, I took a different vow:

That is the last thing you will ever have me feel.

And this is the last time I will ever pen you to paper.

Making you immortal when you deserve nothing,

Nothing from me anymore.

Great leaders may have their accounts recorded by a faithful servant,

but you are no influencer, nor I your bitch.

Your scroll is now sealed.
