Be In It?

Small picket fence and a long drive down the road,

Wild flowers blooming on the gravel and down the row,

Shade of the willow tree hides the path way from the sun,

Hilltop breeze flows from the garden on the run.

The clink of chimes in the wind, and the hum of a mower

Laughter and smiles, heart to heart and hand in hand.

Loving, living, and enjoying every minute.

Waking up to the smell of bacon in the morning,

Coffee brewing in the pot, the smell of hot coco,

The hiss of eggs cooking, the feel of grease popping.

The smell of the morning and the rest of the day awaits.

Sunday church going ready, and making our way down the parking lot,

Walking through the crowds to sit side by side,

Hand in hand, and heart to heart, eyes upward and souls open.

After service Sunday drive, down a long forgotten backroad

Picnic at the side of the road among the flowers and the bushes.

I want to share my world with you,

It’s kind of simple but you know it’s true.

Sunset needs some shine in it,

Friday night needs stars with it,

Cornfield needs a truck in it,

The radio playing a country song

with a little steel in it,

That kind that’s got some reel in it,

Like a lake needs a line in it,

A front porch needs sweet tea sipping.

If you’re into this kind of life I’m living,

Would you want to be in it?

Afternoon requires a long sit in the shade of the willow,

A swing being pushed and the kick of gravel,

A long cold drink of sweet iced tea with a little mint on the side,

Will get the cool of the sky and the heat of the day to subside.

Cool breeze, simple world, hard work and good grace,

Make the build this simple little space.
