Autumn Night
A poem reflecting on the beauty of an evening in the fall

Autumn Night
Silver light on the autumn trees
Fills their leaves with ice
While gentle breezes all round
Blow their leaves to the sky
~
Stars paint the blackened night
Stealing the breath of moon
She stays behind the softened clouds
To hide her envious swoon
~
Crickets play their gentle song
The night is their time
And the weeping willow swings her boughs
To join in their rhyme
~
A pair of lovers walk hand in hand
Enjoying their heart's romance
They wish this night would last forever
And their love stay in its trance
~
Another song steals the sky
This no ear can hear
For the moon retreats to horizon's edge
As sun will soon appear
~
Pinks, reds, and blues
Fill the softening sky
Silence is heard all around
As night whispers good bye
~
As fast as the darkness came
It was tucked away by the dawn
Forcing me to wait the morrow
For the night of which I am fond
