Ash and Clay

THE EARTH IS DYING! OR PERHAPS NOT, BUT IN A MILLENIA WE WILL HAVE LEFT OUR MARK UPON THE FACE AND UNDER THE ROCKS AND OUR HISTORY WILL BE WRITTEN IN DIRT AND OUR DNA WILL BE BURIED IN THE MEMORY OF ASH!

ASH & CLAY

Mountain gray,

Snow-capped majesty rising high.

My gaze travels across the spine of your birth,

As I listen to the rumble of your ageless mirth.

What secrets?

Mighty monolith doth hide?

I search your cloth of dirt,

History writ on rocks inert,

Older than the dinosaurs of God's creation.

Peel like onion, one skin at a time..

Discover truths beneath the lime.

Once those young,

Have turned to old,

Cast off skin,

They turn to bone,

Bone to ash and ash to stone!

Mighty mountain gray!

What thoughts do hide in clay?

How long will you stay,

As humanity makes its final say?

When last of men has been far gone,

When be there only mountains lone,

Let your wisdom set us free,

Yet, do keep us in your memory!
