Armies at War

Inner demons, which ones do I listen to?

Armies at war

The gates flood open

The swords are sharp

Plunge them into me

For the armies are at war

They both need attention

For their plans are mighty

They both need attention

Pay them no mind

The armies are at war

Within myself it’s hard to tell

Which weapon do I sharpen

Which shield do I hold

The armies are at war

They both need attention

My mind corrupt with trauma

My soul corrupt with misery

How does anyone win such a war

Within themselves

For the armies at war

They both need attention

For centuries over time

I feel like every last life

Is just a repeat of a never ending cycle

I’ve lost so many battles

I’ve lost so many men

They were never strong enough

To win this minds game

Life after life

I wield this sword

I keep polishing this armour

Only to have the blood of everyone that passes me spilled all over it

Am I a hero

Or a monster
