From chains, to cuffs.

Leather whips, to pistol whips.

A hanging, to a bullet.

Owners and masters, to police and brutality.

Slavery never stopped.

It just took a different form.

African American people have become slaves to the masses.

Fighting for survival.

Mothers pray for the return of their sons.

Sons cry out for their mothers.

Fathers never come home.

Women sleep, not realizing they would never see another sunrise.

Mundane tasks require them to risk that which is most precious.

Asphyxiation.

He can’t breath.

Another one dead.

Police use their badge to hide their fear

Seldom facing the consequences

Pulling the trigger first.

Asking questions later.

There needs to be change.
