Ancient and eternal connection with Gaia

Goddess Gaia, Mother Earth, Progenitor Ancestral;

Whatever name one chooses for the singing of her praises,

profound connection is the aim of those who pay Her homage,

for through her form we gained our home, our world, and all its spaces.

***

Though there are many souls these days who worship at Her altar,

it was in olden times the Greeks who first conveyed the story

of how existence came to be; primordial creation

as birthed by Mother Gaia’s form in Her maternal glory.

***

At first inside the void was Chaos, Darkness, and Confusion,

and then was formed the planet Earth, in form of Goddess Gaia.

Then sprang from Her the starry skies, the heavens, and Uranus.

The seas and oceans, plains and mountains, Alps and Himalayas.

***

Just like the ground beneath our feet and nature all around us,

our bodies are connected to the Great Ancestral Mother.

The cord from the umbilicus is damaged and imperfect,

and yet we’re still connected through the planet and each other.

***

Centuries and many ages may have passed behind us,

and though we vandalize the world and injure with our ire,

like loving mum she may forgive, yet we shouldn’t take for granted

the ancient and eternal bond we share with Mother Gaia.
