When did innocent lives become pieces

on your chessboard ~

played out as

pawns for your ego ~

subjected to the whim and fancy of an oligarch

Narcissism exuded at it's best ~

dark and cruel

I lend my voice ~

in solidarity to my sisters

and brothers fighting for their lives ~

in a senseless war

innocent blood being shed ~

of a people unprepared for the

ravages of war ~

You smite them down without impunity

Tyrannically imposing your will ~

fully expecting the force of your might

to break the backs and bend the shoulders ~

of a proud people

The prize for you, simply put ~

but not simply gained

is power and arrogant subjugation ~

the world at your feet

This for politics of the mighty oil ~

retaining old history

while silencing the voices of the wider world ~

We shall protest by any means

that avails itself to the mass ~

For injustice, in any form

must be subdued, and crushed ~

So, we lend our voices

and stand with the people of ~

the Ukraine

Be strong, though not alone ~

You still fight for your freedom

Peace shall soon be yours again ~
