In Haikus

Vibrant, graceful, fresh,

A rose is oblivious.

To its own beauty.

A strong stem supports

Velvety, dainty petals

In dazzling red.

Seductive lush buds,

Waft a spicy sweet fragrance

Inviting a whiff.

We try to mimic

The delicious aroma

In perfumes, lotions.

Trying to become

The flower we desire

Beautiful, cherished.

Manmade chemicals

Can replicate aroma

But not the essence.

Roses are more than

A fragrant, floral perfume

A stunning display.

Roses in nature

Are a secure home for birds

Thorny, protective.

Wild blossoms bloom

A source of pollen for bees

Unmanicured, rough.

A rose unfocused

On people pleasing beauty

Finds its own nature.
