"A Quirk of Humanity"

A view on gossip

It's a sad but true quirk of humanity,

that a persons perception is their reality.

It twists and tears and tangles and binds,

It's breeding grounds are narrow minds.

Those who plant and sow this weed,

through gossip spread it's nasty seed.

Nurtured with rumors it grows and thrives,

while it's roots take hold in unsuspecting lives.

So quick are they to sit and judge,

holding dearly to an unspoken grudge.

They spread the seed with the wind,

burning bridges that may never mend.

From glass houses they oversee,

a twisted perception of reality.

While it's hardest on those of a broader mind,

to accept an opinion that is so blatantly blind.

Others have little or no insight,

never questioning wrong or right.

And in so doing help sow this seed,

for those who plant and harvest this weed.
