A Poetic Ode to Nipsey Hussle
Community and Compassion
All you WantedWas a better worldfor your people, your hood, access towhat is wholesome, and good.
Access tohealthy foods, knowledge, and informationis what youknew we of the darker huedeserved.
For that, youwere willingto put yourlife on theline.
Etched in timeare memoriesof who you wereand what you stood for.
Your life isa metaphorfor love, justice, and deep peace.the deepest peace.
Released, yourspirit into thestretches of theuniverse.
Inside, I hopewe all searchfor our purpose;fight for the lovethat exists inside;acknowledge thepride that hasalways existedin black people.
You achievedthe angelic despiteknowing of the evilthat lurked aroundthe corner.
You were a man,a protector, a provider,an inventor, entrepreneur,a righteous being, and aperformer.
L.A. had its armsaround you all thewhile you helpedstrengthen others, friends, sisters, community members, your circle of brothers.
Millions were shockedto learn that you ascended to the spiritual plane.
We will foreverremember you, sayyour name.
Fame was onlya tool for you togrow.
You were a wisesoul who dropped jewels in his rapflow.
Prophetic, youspoke and acted as if you knewit was your timeto go.
But no life everreally comes toan end. Yourinfluence at thistime begins.
Your spiritual power the peoplewill hold on toand ration. The African diasporaworldwide I hope will be impacted
by howmuch you loved yourown,
and how youshowed it withcompassion.
