A Part Of Me, And A Part Of You
Twins
We shared everything once
One life, one womb
I think of you
Floating over the moon
~
I think of you
After all this time
What it would be like
If you were still mine
~
To share everything
To share love and cheer
To laugh together
And have a living mirror
~
All those years ago
What we went through
Did I lose a part of me?
Or gain a part of you?
~
I picture you
Playing in the clouds
Do I cross your mind?
As you do mine?
~
Time after time
My longing takes root
A soft thing, hard to place
A longing for you
~
We were kept apart
In this life, our fate
And I don’t get to know you
A love I can’t sate
~
I sometimes wonder
Are you like me?
Are you happy?
Are you free?
~
And even now
As decades fleet by
I hope you are well
Dancing in the sky
~
But just know
With everything I do
I will always be
A part of me, and a part of you
