we far too often

fear the idea

of starting anew

having become so


with tolerating a

mediocre life

rather than dealing

with a smidgen of


to forever escape


~what a shame

here we are

here we stand

are you going

to leap with me

or release my hand


the wind rustles my feathers

I am cold yet unafraid

I am still


I move mountains

I keep my beak shut

yet screech a thousand melodies

I am a raven

a contradiction

dark and mysterious

light and open


I don’t want to be ordinary

I don’t care to be trapped in a routine

I want to be a reckless bird

spreading my outrageous wings

and soaring above the cage that is
