A letter to my Animus

A sunlit poem with a dreary undertone 🖤🥀🖤

A letter to my Animus

Today is gorgeous sunny day —

I’ll spend it drunk on love;

Light of my eyes, you’re here to stay.

With you I have enough.

I may have made it up again —

Dismay is all I’ve known:

No joy of love but only pain,

That shame I have to own.

There must be something wrong with me

If men reject my love:

They say I’m weird, back off and flee...

I’m bad. I’m not enough.

So here I am, forever starved,

My youth remained unseen...

With Freya’s Seal in apples carved —

My only hope to win.

As ethereal as that sign

Is all I have of you.

What are the chances you’ll be mine?

I never had a clue.

And still I love you... it’s all here

For you alone to take.

You’re but a Dream — but oh so near.

I put my life at stake.

Because I’ll lose it anyway —

To hardship, age or fate,

And only love can save the day.

It’s not up for debate.

Today is gorgeous sunny day —

I’ll spend it drunk on love;

Light of my eyes, you’re here to stay.

With you I have enough.
