A Glimpse Of Light
We all experience stress
A weight that feels irreparably destroyed.
A never-ending struggle, day and night,
An enduring battle and war.
It infiltrates our minds and thoughts,
It makes us feel so constricted.
A cage of anxiety, skepticism, and fear
That we are unable to free ourselves from
Nevertheless, we continue to breathe,
Hoping for a sweet release and tranquility.
Since we know that tension is only a test,
It will soon pass.
So let's take a step back and appreciate
The beauty of simplicity in everyday life.
And discover a peaceful area within ourselves
Where serenity and tranquility can exist.
Once we do it, we'll be able to glimpse the light
That constantly shines within us.
A reminder of our might and strength,
And that we will win this battle.

The Fish Song
The room didn’t smell like disinfectants. Its fragrance seemed light and not overbearing. A soft mixture of lavender and mint permeated the space. No beeping machines or any tubes hooked up to four-year-old Kaleeka. Her cacao skin seemed to glow from the light over her head. The family, save for one and the doctors and nurses exited the room like a trail of saints showing their last vestiges of regard.
