A feeling that I can't escape from me

The sorrow that I feel inside, Is a pain that I just cannot hide. The thought of what we could have been, Is a memory that won't come to an end.

A love that was never meant to be,

A feeling that I can't escape from me.

Memories linger like a summer's breeze,

But the reality is one of unease.

I thought that we could make it work,

But now I see that love can sometimes hurt.

The laughter, the joy, the endless delight,

Have all faded into the darkest night.

The sorrow that I feel inside,

Is a pain that I just cannot hide.

The thought of what we could have been,

Is a memory that won't come to an end.

But I know that love is a fickle thing,

And sometimes it's just not meant to be.

So I'll carry on, with a heart that's sore,

And the love that was, I'll keep it evermore.
