a circus of a dream
submission for "A Full Moon"
Dreams can be strange and ever so surreal
A nightmarish reality that's hard to feel
My dream was of a man with a face of a snake
His eyes were two pools of a deep blue lake
The sky was purple and the trees were pink
The world I was in was quite a strange thing
The ground was made of sugar and stones of gold
My sense of reality was starting to fold
I didn't know what to do or what to say
As I watched this scene continue to play
The man with the face of a snake said hello
And with a wave of his hand he sent me below
To a place with no knowledge of time or place
Where the sun and the moon lit up my face
I was scared and confused, I wanted to run
But the man with the snake face said it was just a dream, just have fun
In the sky, I saw an elephant in a tree
Swinging from branch to branch so merrily
A giant squid, floating in the air
With a bundle of balloons and not a care
On a nearby mountain, a cheetah in a dress
Dancing to a tune, it was such a mess
The strangest thing of all was a pink flamingo
Floating in the sky, a most peculiar show
So I embraced the craziness, the wild and the weird
And I awoke with a smile, feeling so relieved.
