White goose down comforter

thrown carelessly over

rumpled cotton sheets

one pillow on the floor

the other smashed between

the mattress and the wall

**********

Milky dried up stains

on the passenger side

black bra, size 34B

caught on the hooks

beneath the squeaky seat

lost for several days

**********

Fairy dust remnants

sprinkled across broken mirrors

next to lip gloss and mascara

loose change and beer bottles

all residing like siblings

on the bathroom counter

**********

Third generation worn sofa

cushions pushed out of place

like too many squares

in a round puzzle

alone again she dreams

three dead, one wounded

heartbreak
