My best friend once said,
Lying in her non-traditional bed,
“You take a leap of faith,
With your intuition.”
Yes, I embrace
Subtle whispers yield fruition
But more so, I listen
To a silent, rushing, sound
Skin thickens,
As my feet leave the ground.
Pounding blood, vein to faith, it pours
My spirit, finally soars.
It’s simpler to digest a situation
Home, work, an idea in gestation
Than your own indignation.
Allow me to tear some walls—
We fear our own faults
More, than who we truly are.
It’s that much harder to start
When we anticipate downfall.
Hiding scars,
Pushing down darker parts,
Never gets us far.
Staying in this place?
Restricting ourselves in this way
Is what keeps us rooted to pain.
Something happened, way back,
Killed our dreams. Now we lack
The spine to attack
Seize and celebrate, clap clap
I mean... why
Do we hold back?
It starts with that leap of faith.
Staring down the cliff
Yet feeling safe.
Leaving behind your hate,
Primarily for yourself, when in ache.
You are allowed to frustrate.
But don’t use it to derail
Off the tracks, impale
To doubt you wish depreciates.
Spark your own fire.
Screw others, YOU inspire
Your dreams are real, are just
Grab with both hands if you must!
Throw it over the edge,
Force you to follow or lead instead
Even if you can only pretend
To ignore
The voices in your head.
Look to the sun
Drop off, or start with a run
Let reality come from what you’ve spun
Feel weightless, as you become
Free. Drop your bags,
Let it go, along with plight
It’s not much of a fight
Than a meal you’re jonesing to bite.
That leap is scarier than it feels
For many, what does it even mean?
When freedom isn’t something you’ve seen.
However comforting the past be
Nothing, more satisfying,
Than yourself taking the wheel.
