Hope and a Purpose
When a parent dies your world is turned upside down. That is what happened to me when my dad passed. He had been sick for a while and I helped him with his final arrangements. We cleared out the furniture and the belongings. It was a trying time for him, my sisters and myself. At the same time, we had to place my mother in a care facility to help with her Alzheimer’s.
The Four Pieces of My Heart
At the age of 32 I expected to have children by now. For ten years I tried, until getting the final word last year that I cannot. It also turns out, as we found out late last year, adoption is not possible for us, which only reinforced what I already knew: my pups are my babies. Some people laugh when they hear that. Others roll their eyes. Some do both. I don’t let that stop me from going off on a tangent about my pups and yanking out all the pictures I have of them.
Little Legs and Big Heartbreak
Everyone thinks their pet is the best dog/cat/goat in the entire world, and that’s because they are. They are a beacon of love and innocence in the tumultuous landscape of life. Many people claim that they didn’t rescue their pet; their pet rescued them. Neither of those are true of my sweet dog, Mister Richmond.

He Chose Us
In early 2012, our beloved black labrador, Libby, passed unexpectedly. She developed an aggressive form of cancer and we were left in a state of heartbreak, awe, and impending sadness. There was nothing that could be done to reverse her condition and before we could wrap our minds around the situation at hand, we had to say our goodbyes. My entire family was taken aback and despite our love for dogs, we decided we just didn’t feel right about adopting a new one. Months went on, though, and we felt like a piece was missing in our home.
The Spark Of A Journey
First and foremost, I want to point out that, Wyatt is not a wolf. He's a shepherd husky mix. I refer to him as wolf because he reminds me of one with his spirit. With that being said our story can begin.
Super Powered Pets
It has been an absolute blessing to have a cat and a dog as pets during this time of quarantine. They have been definite mood busters. Indy the dog and Mazikeen the cat both are very unique and have special super powers.
A Lesson on Racism From Dogs
Watching dogs play reminds me there is hope for mankind - well, dogkind - if that is a word. When I watch the acceptance, understanding, and love shared by woman's best friend, my heart swells with the knowledge that we will overcome the divisiveness in our world.
The Not Quite So British F-Word
Let me take you back to April 2014 – to a time when my then tween was fishing excitedly even though there was not a drop of water in sight and certainly no fish.
My Forever Guardian
It was nighttime, I remember the sky being dark with shining stars and a bright moon hanging in the background. My family and I were in the kitchen, crowded next to each other looking over pictures of newborn Australian Shepherd puppies as my mom was getting a puppy for her birthday. I was thirteen, just getting to those fun years of trying to figure out myself and the world, a teenager full of dark broodiness who only wanted to hide in her room and read stories.

My Furry Babies
Every time i role play with my furry babies it create adventurous times in the yard. This photo is myself in character as Pippi Long stockings, along with my ferrets, and my dog getting into a world of fun. Euros is my four year old male ferret who has black eyes posing side ways for the camera. Dj is my four year old female ferret with red eyes, who is very active. During play time she usually tries jumping off of my shoulders. Trying to hold onto DJ and make sure she doesn't get lost is quite the challenge. Playing Pippi long stockings and trying to keep up with Dj had me tumbling to my side though i was having a joyful time.
