Embrace the Poison and Beauty

Most of us can acknowledge the incredible beauty of the Butterfly; it fascinates us, and we marvel at its delicately strong presence. The Butterfly can represent many things to us in unique ways that touch our personal journey throughout our lives. Butterflies are known to represent powerfully deep symbolism about life. Some cultures claim the Butterfly is associated with the soul and the Christian religion claims they are a symbol of resurrection. Also, many people from all walks of life see the Butterfly as a representation of endurance, change, hope and ultimately life.

The beauty of the Butterfly is obviously in its appearance and the plethora of colours and various patterns in which they are displayed on the wings. But let’s not forget the dynamic use of these beautiful wings; they are seemingly too large in comparison to the body to which they are attached. Research has suggested that due to the bounty of size that the Butterfly could still fly with half the size of their wings. Butterflies and moths display the strength of their thorax muscles which thrust their wings in a fulcrum-like motion up and down. They move in a slanted figure eight pattern that in turn propels these winged beauties forward much like the principles used in the flight of an airplane.

Not only do Butterflies use their wings for flight, but they are also utilized to create camouflage patterns, to showcase their poisonous nature or simply as billboards for beauty. Their flight patterns can be quite erratic which essentially makes it difficult for predators to follow their flight path, however, the poisonous butterflies need not conduct evasive manoeuvers and tend to have a much straighter path of flight.

So, for us mere humans, we can borrow from the butterfly’s strength through unusual physical presence, danger disguised within beauty and move through life with the efficiency of their flight patterns and avoidance of dangers. The truth of the matter is that; we need to be authentic and while we are concerned about mistakes, the wrong decisions, all the tiny bits of movements we make bring us to this moment right here. They influence where our lives end up, the moments we cherish and the ones we may regret, but have ultimately shaped our present moment.

Our erratic flight patterns inadvertently lead to a missed bus, a pause before pulling out of a parking spot, and at that moment we are unknowingly avoiding a mishap, a danger that sets another set of possibilities in motion and leading to an unimagined moment changing the intended trajectory. A decision once considered to be calculated is ultimately what some may term a divine intervention, and it catapults us into a forward motion towards nothing we wished for, but what we are truly grateful to experience.

Some moments are fraught with pain and dismay causing us to display our poisonous tendencies in acts of self preservation, while others, the more desired moments, lead us to display our beautiful colours. These displays propel us towards the next decision, that we will again question, and will land us at the cross roads of figuring out whether we are better served with cautious and poisonous displays or if we should embrace the happiness while casting caution to the wind and allowing the beauty within us to flourish and shine with vulnerability.

So, while we move through this life, every flight pattern and movement, even standing still or flying erratically, we should just be; be ourselves and embrace the poison and the beauty. Change will always come, and butterflies will keep flapping their large wings causing pause or storms, but the Universe will always value it all. It will value us always in all ways and your existence can cast its magic on everything around by changing and redirecting poison and beauty in the most memorable ways. The Universe wants and needs your presence, so just be.
