The Pillars of Up Before You

What We're Built On

Up Before You is a community of people who Get After It. We fall and we get back up again. We get backed into a corner and, when the rest of the world thinks we're finished, we find a way out. When it seems like we're finished and that we're at the end of the line we put our head down, grab our shovel, and we keep digging. There is no quit. Failure is not an option. There is always a way out. No matter how stacked the odds are against us, we press on. The only way we can possibly lose is if we give up on the mission entirely.

So what are the pillars that this community is built upon?

1.) Get After It- Every single day we bring it. We seek out discomfort to the point of people wondering what is wrong with us. We are constantly flirting with the line of taking things too far. The only problem with the prior statement is that we don't believe one can ever go too far. In fact, we believe that in order to achieve greatness and constantly get better you need to take things too far. We believe you need to be obsessed with what you're doing in order to get better. We fall all the time yet we're not afraid of looking silly or failing. The answer to anything we do is painfully simple it drives outsiders crazy. Get back up and GET AFTER IT. Just don't ever quit the overall mission. It's okay to experience setbacks and to fall short of your goals. We believe that one can never actually lose unless they give up entirely.

2.) On The Path- Oftentimes, often unintentionally, we set goals that set us up for failure. This can be discouraging to most and can force them to quit altogether. But what's the good in that? What's the point of coming so far only to quit when things actually get hard? Don't give me your excuses. Tell me how you're going to adjust and keep going. As I said earlier, you only really fail if you quit altogether. Goals are great. I love goals. They drive us and give us purpose. Yet, they don't define us. What's important is that we stay On The Path. Sometimes we set goals with a timeline that was off and we fail. Instead of throwing that goal or dream away entirely, refocus and figure out what you need to do to achieve it in the future. The reason so many people are stuck being mediocre is that they quit at the first sign of real resistance. We like to be comfortable. Forget that. Comfort gets you nowhere in life. We purposefully choose the path of most resistance and keep ourselves On The Path towards our mission. We don't give up when we fall short of goals because 90% of goals are bullshit anyway. Stay On The Path and forge ahead!

3.) What's Next? We believe in celebrating successes and being pissed off about our short-term failures. Yet, we're always looking towards what's next. Don't get too low when you fail and don't get too high when you succeed. Always keep your eyes forward and on what's next. If you fail, fail forward. Fail going 1,000 miles an hour at a pace that many deem reckless. That's where you grow. Don't be afraid to set goals and objectives for yourself that other people call "impossible". Because they're wrong. That shit doesn't exist. Impossible is merely a term narrow-minded people throw around to make themselves feel better. It's how they compensate for their mediocrity. Don't believe me? Find someone you look up to or that you think is successful. Then, pay attention to how often they use the word impossible. We can always go further and we can always do more. Learn from your experiences but always keep your eyes forward.

Constantly ask yourself What's Next?

Up Before You.
