Have you ever heard the saying, "Pics or it didn't happen"? One day I was walking with some friends on a popular street in California. We took a picture standing next to a man who directs different celebrities. He asked us what we were doing there, and my friend said, "Just YouTube you know, making videos." The man nodded and smiled saying, "I Vlog therefore I am."

They say that a life worth living is a life worth recording. In this digital age, are you not yet compelled to document your days? To write about your journey? To keep a diary of your deepest desires? To make videos about your thoughts? To take pictures during your travels? Not only can your events change your life, but they could forever influence the life of another.

Life after death

"The key to immortality is first living a life worth remembering." ~Bruce Lee

Know that your life is as important as anyone else's. The things you do today become the life you live tomorrow. In your path in life, imagine how much impact your legacy will leave. It goes beyond you, my friend. Your legacy is all the lives that you have touched, and will touch from this day forward. No matter what religion you are part of, or what doctrines you believe, we do live on after death. We live on in the memories of others. We live on in the people who remember us.

I can remember being so young riding a bus in Elementary School. The world had just gotten word that Tupac Shakur had died. I'll never forget watching the tears stream down the face of a high school girl. I didn't know who Tupac was then, but she did. Years later, people still jam to his music and speak of his actions. That means he is still alive, and so is his legacy.

A piece of our life

"Documentation is a love letter that you write to your future self." ~Damian Conway

What if Jeff Bezos, creator of Amazon, had documented his iconic rise in the industry. Even if he had recorded audio of him in his office, people would be filling notebooks with his content today. Can you imagine if he had laid out his struggles? What if he expressed his hurts, his triumphs, his sorrows, and his grief in the business? What if he had shared each of his victories, and joys in the success of his empire? If he had chronicled Amazon's journey from a humble bookstore to the everything store. Who knows how many more people he would have inspired.

I implore you, develop a curiosity with documentation. It doesn't have to only be about you. It can be about your family. It could be about your friends. If you have any children, it can be about them. We have it within our power today to document. Be it in writing, audio, visual, or video form. You can change somebody's life by sharing a piece of yourself with the world.

Buy a journal, and start writing your thoughts. Someday someone might come along your writing and be impacted. Your life experiences can last. Your victories have value. In this technology driven world, there are more options than ever. You can start a podcast. You can start a YouTube channel. You don't even have to sell anything. You could give others priceless value just by being yourself.

Leaving a footprint

Record your thoughts and publish them. Put them out into the cosmos. Project your ideas, and see what ripples back. Stamp your digital footprint on the Earth. You never know who might be watching your story. You never know who you could help with your words. Each of us is another piece to the grand puzzle. Find out where you fit inside the big picture. Always remember that it is not all about us, but the lives that we touch that will live on in the end.
