Mercury and Saturn going retrograde, a double dose of lunar and solar eclipses, Venus heading into Cancer’s watery receptive realm, lucky Jupiter in dreamy Pisces transiting the 10th house of worldly achievements, and a full wildcard moon in Sagittarius. I mean, what’s not happening for Geminis this month? This month, you’ll be letting go of everything that doesn’t work to free your spirit. Toxic, unfulfilling friends and love situations? Au revoir! That job that makes you feel dead inside? You’ll start hatching an escape plan. Those old passion projects you left on the back burner? They’ll be making a comeback. That lover from two summers ago? They might try to hit you up, so double down on the discernment and don’t engage with anyone who isn’t beneficial for your soul’s growth.

In recent times, Geminis have been near-slandered routinely by the masses. I don’t know who we should blame — Donald Trump’s Twitter antics? Maybe Kanye West’s? Or even astrology Twitter in general, where more than one or two demystified daters have logged onto lament about their short-lived Gemini Tinder boo who ghosted them sometime after their second three-hour long dinner — I thought we clicked! Every Gemini exists somewhere along a very polarizing spectrum. “Two-faced,” “too flirtatious,” “uncommitted,” “so confused,” or on the other hand, “charming,” “creative genius,” “natural salesman,” “warm and playful,” “Ride or die,” you’ve heard it all before.

With Gemini, there is always the lesson to be learned of striking a balance. They are hunting for that sweet spot between their right-brain and their left-brain; between strategy and play; between intuitive spontaneity and absolute blind chaos. I promise, the Gemini who ghosted you simply hasn’t figured out their head/heart balance yet.

We all grow at our own pace, as they say.

So. What can you expect from Gemini season?

Order Up! Your Incoming Astrological Cocktail:

On May 20th, the Sun moves into the cool, intellectual, and flirty constellation of Gemini. Cue the collective sigh of relief! Your pixie-wings are back in flight as this vibrant solar cycle bestows upon you a much needed energy boost. While Taurus season probably felt slow and too steady, for the next four weeks the universe is calling you back into the magical, happening flow of things. With your social battery finally charged up, it’s time to flutter about and sample everything on life’s menu. It’s not the time to write your name on any undying contract — step into what you know and experiment without pressure. Luck is living in your zone right now with Pisces in Jupiter in your house of potential. It’s time to ask yourself, who do I want to be? Think of the film and novel characters, the Ted Talks, and the people that inspire you. What do you love about the way they live? Now is the time to be idealistic, optimistic. Step into your visions. Use the astrological influence to bridge the gap between fantasy and real life.

Reply to those emails, texts, or DMs, and put some self-empowering routines in place while the energy is on your side. Although you’re usually speeding from one shiny object to the next, you’re going to want to take out that long lost bullet journal when disciplined Saturn goes retrograde on May 23rd and Mercury, the planet representing the fluency of our thoughts and communication, follows behind only a week later on May 29th in Cancer!. This is a nudge from the universe to double-think all your moves before you make them and tap into your emotional body. Your heart will be leading you a little bit more at this time. If you can’t decide between productivity and play, then do both. And, yes, sign up for that foreign film class, just make sure the time slot doesn’t overlap with babysitting on Tuesday, or your Friday afternoon book and cocktail club.

  • DO: Revisit old business. Say goodbye to dead-ends. Backup your iPhone. Enter writing contests (that’s what I’m doing). Start planning for that YouTube channel you’ve been dreaming about. Record songs on your iPhone even if you can’t sing. Write love letters even if you can’t send them. Just get it out. Join a class. Learn a foreign language, take up belly dancing, or study coding. Bring back the bullet journal. Create rewards for every mini-milestone. Use Saturn’s influence to start laying down the brickwork. Bring your laptop outside to the park or to the café patio if your #WFH routine gets tedious. Speak your mind and let the cards fall where they may. Trust chaos as a process that is ultimately purifying. Network. Apply for that job. Be in the mix. Turn your faith up a notch.
  • DON’T: Hold it all in or remove yourself from the world too much. You should thrive in your communication at this time. If you feel better alone, find something to channel yourself into creatively. Transmutation is the focus. Don’t take on too many things at once, or force yourself to be a whole new person by tomorrow morning. This is time for envisioning your dream self and aligning with that version of yourself through small repetitive actions. Forget to beautify your atmosphere, home, and wardrobe.

Your hunger for deeper connections will be amplified big time once creatrix Venus swims over into Cancer on June 3rd. What do you really want? A new short-lived love might come in, or you could feel inspired to rejuvenate the relationship you’re in. The planet of values and affection will be exiting your 12th house of privacy and isolation, so it’s time to open the curtains, blast the upbeat music, and lay all of those forgotten passion projects back on the table. There’s no need to move too fast. You might be walking around like an exposed nerve for a little while, more easily triggered than usual, and overwhelmed with a desire to feel truly engaged with. Energy is moving from your head to your heart, so use this time to find the balance between your rational and emotive side.

If you feel like someone’s not loving you the way you want, don’t fall into your usual trap of getting it all off your mind right away. You might hurt somebody! Chill out, laugh with your friends, and live in the question. Lean into grace and reflection. Ask yourself: Is what I’m giving out grounds for what I wish to receive? The universe is a mirror and you, Gemini, know that better than most.

(If you’re still feeling the same when Venus goes direct on the 25th of June and clears the fog, then definitely have that conversation. Neptune Retrograde on June 23rd will help with this; tap into your psychic side and dig deep. Ask questions; your intuition will know what’s true or false. There is clarity and healing there — and you’ll want to empty your heart’s cache before entering Cancer season, trust.)

  • DO: Journal. A lot. Make note of every question that pops into your mind, no matter how seemingly insignificant. Doodle hearts around their name. You know whose. Or frowny faces — whichever fits. Ask your dreams for answers. Listen to classics from your childhood: Method Man, Avril Lavigne, Nina Simone. Whatever brings out the child/lover/wizard in you. Bake a heart-shaped cake. Add confetti sprinkles. Download comedy podcasts to listen to while washing dishes. Say I love you whenever you feel it. Create your own excitement.
  • DON’T: Call your ex at 2am while obsessing over old memories. Hit up the person who sent you unsolicited nudes to your DMs. If they weren’t charming then, they’re probably not charming now, and mental fascination is a must when we’re running on Gemini time. Return to toxic friendships. Say yes to projects that genuinely don’t feel right for you. Break up with your partner at the first inkling of boredom. Instead, accept that some periods in life will be mundane. It’s normal. Ask yourself how you can bring rejuvenation into those areas before you leave them high and dry.

On May 26th, the Sagittarius full moon and lunar eclipse arrives with a bright big bang in your 7th house of commitments, contracts, and relationships. It’s happening at the 5th degree (Leo) meaning the focus will be on YOU. Are you getting what you give? Do you feel fulfilled by your personal contracts? Are you thrilled to show up? Are you the star of your life, or have you been given your power away?

Sagittarius, the truth-seeking archer, is Gemini’s sister sign: they share a need for freedom, a love of curious people, and mental stimulation. Where Gemini asks Why? Sagittarius asks How? And you’re going to be focused on one thing: New adventures ahead. If you’re able with the current restrictions, take a weekend trip and get away! A change of surroundings will be so pacifying for you, even if you just drive an hour away to lay on a beach all day with a good book. Your Gemini brain loves information!

What sets you free? What do you wish to know, learn, see, experience? Dream it, do it! If you don’t have a skydiving class set up or an upcoming date to go skinny-dipping, then this energy might make you feel a little stir-crazy. With Mars entering the theatrical, luxurious, spirit-filled sign of Leo on June 11th, you’ll definitely be feeling the urge to play around with your appearance, expression, or change up your usual routine. If you’ve been feeling stuck, now is the time to make a move.

The focus is all on you! You’re energized at this time by focusing on how you fill your own cup.

Forget the world for a moment, how are you loving yourself today? How are you pampering yourself? How are you reminding yourself that you’re worth it? It’s time to show off your skills, however big or small. You won’t be swayed by surface-level charisma. Your quicksilver mind is looking for substance, true pizzaz, and if nobody else can deliver, you’ll find a way.

On June 22nd, Cancer season doubles down on everything you’ve learned during your season and you’ll be able to synthesize the frequencies of your logic and your emotion. With Jupiter being in Pisces in your house of potential, you’ve been given an extra kiss of luck when it comes to switching directions and manifesting a vocation that aligns with you.

  • DO: Dye your hair pink, green, orange. Teach yourself new skills: cook pizza at home instead of ordering. Crochet knit a colourful summer dress. Surprise your lover, your friends, or yourself with random date nights. Write and send a letter to an online friend. Explore your neighborhood (Gemini rules your local spots!): try a new coffee shop, walk around without a destination in mind, try a new biking trail, keep your eyes open and your heart full of wonder. Take a trip for the weekend. Deepen the usual conversations you have with your friends, siblings, and neighbours. It’s a great time to have a casual conversation with a professor you admire. If you’ll need that recommendation letter someday, start working on it now. Shop for new books. Get fully involved in all of your interests.
  • DON’T: Neglect yourself or your emotions. Feel shame in “oversharing” — no one’s opinion of your truth can actually diminish you. Overstress your finances or general life trajectory (you have time to create a game plan, no matter how much time you feel like you’ve lost!). Stay anywhere that doesn’t feed your mind, body, and spirit. Forget to experiment with your outfits and self-presentation.

Enjoy your season, Geminis!

The stars are on your side and nothing is off the table.
