Where do they lie?

Fun fact: the big secret is, all the answers lie within you. The first step is to ask, have a little patience and to make sure that you are listening.

What does it mean to get quiet? Getting quiet, it simply means just that, to be without distraction or noise - quiet. Your mind will have a hard time at first trying to attempt pushing all thoughts out, focusing on your breath is a great place to start. It is so easy to get distracted by one thought, before you know it you have possibly planned out the rest of your day, worried about how you are going to pay that bill, or even how others perceived their interactions with you earlier in the day. Welcome to real life everyday stressors. I believe the hardest part about getting quiet with yourself, is having no idea of what may come up. For some, that quietness may not be so pleasant. It takes a lot of courage and strength to sit with that quietness. But only through that perseverance brings the light you have been searching for.

Like many of us, I do to wish for someone to just tell me what to do when having to make difficult decisions. One question that will never stop arising is "what should I do?" The only thing you can do is get quiet and listen to what your intuition is guiding you to do. Sure, it is always easier to listen to someone else when they tell you what they think you should do. This could very well be the best advice to help solve all your problems. However, I am highly recommending, before making any drastic or sudden changes to simply ask yourself, "does this really align with who I am and what I truly desire?" Only you will know deep down if that job is worth staying at or if that relationship is worth the effort.

When you are in a position of being faced with making important decisions, negative thoughts will always be your enemy. “But what if I make the wrong decision?” or “thinking about making this decision is putting too much pressure on me, I just wish someone would tell me what to do!” or deep down we may have that little thought that says “well, if someone else makes the decision for me, I could have someone else to blame if all else fails”.

But now let us be serious at some point or another you will need to decide, or the universe will have other plans for you. It may be hard to hear but, not deciding is technically the decision. Now you must watch as that decision unfolds. The most important piece of information I can share is …. MAKE A DECISION AND STICK TO IT, do not let those negative thoughts make you question your intentions.

“OK, so for real, how do I begin to understand when I’m getting an answer?” Well, I am glad you asked, when you get quiet you create this thing called self-awareness which allows you to feel subtle changes in your environment. You will learn on a deep level what feels right or wrong for you. Asking yourself these questions does not guarantee you will receive an answer immediately. I mean it would be awesome to ask a question and your phone would light up with a message containing all the answers, but sadly it does not work like that. So, in the meantime we get quiet, we ask, have patience and listen.

When you begin to ignore the things that do not feel right, your body will show you in ways such as depression, anger or even anxiety. When something feels wrong, follow your intuition because it is trying to tell you that something is not meant for you. Following your intuition may feel weird or even scary at first, but the more you do it, the easier it will become. Think of your intuition as a muscle, the more you work that muscle out the stronger it will be. Same goes for your intuition, the more you tap in and listen the stronger it will feel.

Are you having a tough time getting quiet? Good news, you do not have to just sit there on the couch staring at the wall. I promise there are way more interesting ways of shutting out all the noise. Try getting grounded and going for a walk, whether that be at the beach or in the middle of the woods. This I must say, is my absolute favorite. You could also listen to light, calming music or even search for a guided meditation. Whatever it is that you are into, go for it. Your mind, body and soul will thank you.
