are you ready for it?

I thought being on a spiritual journey would be butterflies, unicorns, and rainbows.

Did you think it was going to be easy? Because it turns out it’s work.

There is so much talk these days about finding your Self, speaking your truth, following your intuition, and listening to your chakra, yet very little is said about how much work this is. It’s an actual job. The one of taking care of yourself. Of finding who you truly are. Of being of purpose. Of following your dharma, duty. Of not wasting this incarnation.

Gee, that’s a long list!

And yet, is there any other way to live?

When I was younger, well, much younger… I had fallen into a brutal state of desperation, sadness, and darkness. A perpetual black hole had found its home in the center of my chest. And would not move.

I made myself believe I wasn’t good enough for anything. I was scared to change. The pain I was in had become cozy, like a soft silk shawl delicately resting on my shoulders. I had no courage to fully step into my power, because no one taught me what it was and how to get it.

I could tell you a million and one things I was afraid of. Here are the main ones that kept me trapped.

▶not being liked

▶being alone

▶not being pretty

▶not being smart

▶the future

Have you ever felt this way? Then you know it’s a terrible way to wake up and greet the day.

So let me skip to the good part. And save you some steps to get to an entirely new version of yourself.

I realized this over the many years of practice and (painful) inner work. And, to be clear, it was all oh so worth it. Change requires courage to step into the fire of transformation, and you have it too.

  • You are allowed to feel broken, squeezed, and reduced to liquid. Like a ripe peach passed through the juicer.
  • You are entitled not to know the name of that pain.
  • You can sit with it and let it go through you like a tornado.
    • You have permission to kneel on the ground and let your salty tears dry on the bare floor.
    • You can feel what you feel without justifying it or explaining it to yourself and others.
    • You have the right to scream.

Because at some point, in the darkest moment of sadness, when you are not able to take it anymore when you are sure you need change like you need air, something will click. A switch turned on. You will realize you don’t have to suffer anymore.

I didn’t have to hate who I was, and neither do you. I didn’t have to feel guilty for my choices, nor do you. Because when all this will pass — and it will — you will remember that,

    • You are not that broken being your mind wants you to be imprisoned in.
    • You are not that tiny little human your pain body keeps you trapped in.
    • You are part of the divine.
    • You are made of joy.
    • Your true nature is love.
    • You are so much more powerful than your brain wants you to know.
    • You don’t need to believe everything you think.
    • Let the stories you tell yourself that keep you trapped and small go, disintegrate, destroy. Right here. Right now.
    • Let the worries of “what will they say/think/do?” burn into the flames of change.

You know you are ready for it when you feel like something is stuck in your throat and air isn’t filling your lungs. Your only choice is to surrender and start anew.

In the end, it’s all about what you are afraid of. Ask yourself.

What. Are. You. Afraid Of.? And answer honestly.

Be courageous. The only way out is through.

    Thank you for reading.
