Sometimes Change Hurts

But So Very Necessary

Psst…! Hey, did you figure it out for yourself or did someone nudge you and say, “Neighbor our ‘Season’ is changing and the tide has inevitably turned in our favor.”

BUT FIRST … are you ready?

I don’t know about the others, but when we woke up and accepted the fact that our Winter was creeping in, some of us began gathering provisions, studying, training and seeking “just in case” alliances. We knew not the year, day or hour but we knew it would be here soon.

Just as a seed must accept its nourishment in order to pierce through the fallow earth, (concrete sometimes) we too must know wise council when we hear it, listen and adapt it to our style and movement. But right here I want to lend a word of caution: “All wise council is not always ‘your’ wise council.” Take what you need and move forward.

And then . . .

FEAR can set in. We will second-guess our abilities. We tend to design and construct our own monsters to justify our uncertainties, even when we have done everything we could possibly do. Then if that isn’t enough sometimes through fear we compare ourselves to our oppressors and immolate them hoping that when our change does come they will see us as one of them and they will be mindful of our 246-year loyalty during their retaliation.

NECESSITY is the cousin to struggle. Every era, since the beginning of time has always made progress through struggle. Have you ever noticed that when we have everything to lose our fight becomes creative, sometimes without contemplating the risk?

PAIN is inevitable. Whether we rise or shrink we will be uncomfortable. We form a level of tolerance to our pain that somehow gets rooted in those choices we made way back when. It's time to get ready. Listen to wise council and “if” we have a strong thirst for freedom we won't shrink under pressure or fall back because it won't be easy.

TIME changes everything. No matter how many times we leave “the house” and return back home, time has a way of putting our priorities into prospective, in our head. We want to believe differently than reality so we tend to waste time rationalizing and not on the fact that we should "just let that shit go."

The TIDE will turn for everyone. (Even for Alabama that hale to their grave: “Roll Tide!”). But you best believe it that every season is controlled by a tide-turner that is greater than ourselves. It really doesn’t matter what we chose to call that power, (him, her, I or we) we’re always under its capriciousness.

CHANGE can hurt worse than a Mike Tyson left hook or taste as sweet as warm chocolate drizzled slow and zigzag on a Banana Split. Change is a sure thing that will mature us, reinvent, de-color, heal, empower, rebel and celebrate us, no matter where our journey may go.

IT IS OUR SEASON. We won’t be able to embrace it without change nor will we be able to conquer it without time. A little love and commitment with peaceful interactions wouldn’t hurt either.

We will have to start some things; we’ll terminate quite a bit that proves to be useless and just doesn't make sense. We’ll rewrite, restyle, upgrade, underscore and develop new ways of doing things. If we have to pick up where we left off be sure we'll do it without missing a beat. We will forge ahead, do honest business and conduct ourselves in ways that are good for the planet. We can live in peace.

And yes, we will win!
