Seeing Is Living

The way you live life depends on the way you see things

When was the last time you took a look at your garden and stared at the beautiful flowers and butterflies flying around them? When was the last time you stared at your children's faces while they were sleeping and realized how beautiful they are? When was the last time you took a trip and looked at the beauty of nature without being so concerned with taking pictures? When was the last time you went out for a meal with your family without checking your social media, playing video games, or looking at your phone? When was the last time you gave flowers to your wife? When was the last time you cooked food for your husband? These are the questions that I want to ask you before you start to read my article.

We live in a busy world where negativity is all around us, where fear and hatred are always available in various forms. The moment you turn on the television or radio to watch news, a majority of what you see and hear is how bad the world is, how bad the people are, how corrupt our politicians are, how crazy the weather is, and the list goes on and on. With this being planted in our minds on a daily basis, it is easy to be overwhelmed with anxiety, depression, worry, and fear of tomorrow or the unknown. We always wake up and start seeing what we have been watching. We go to work and we notice our cranky co-workers and strict managers instead of being thankful that we have work and are able to provide for the needs of our family. We complain about traffic and get angry while driving without being thankful that we have a car to drive, while other people in third-world countries walk for hours just to get drinking water. We look in the mirror and see whats wrong with our body without thinking that other people in the hospital are dying and will do anything to have the health that you have. We are busy comparing ourselves to others but there are people out there who want what you have and will do everything to get it. We get annoyed with our parents while others are longing to have their parents back that passed away. We get pissed with our children without knowing that thousands of couples are trying hard to have their own child.

We are surrounded by beauty, we are surrounded by love, we are surrounded by kindness, we are surrounded by happiness, but we won't see it until we change the lens of our eyes and start changing the way we think and see things. I agree that there is so much negativity in this world, but you can also agree that this world is full of good and kind people who are willing to walk the extra mile to help and reach out to others. Yes, there are corrupt politicians, but there are also good public servants who do a lot of great things in our community and in our country. Yes, the weather can be crazy sometimes, but how about those summer days that we enjoy outdoors at the cabin or gathering for a BBQ outside. The traffic can be bad, but at least we are sitting comfortably in our heated & air conditioned cars. Our parents can be annoying sometimes, but at least we have them alive and well. Our kids can make us angry but they can also makes us happy. At the end of the day, it is all about your vision towards things and what you magnify that will matter. Let us START CHANGING THE LENS OF OUR EYES AND WE WILL ALL SEE HOW BEAUTIFUL THE WORLD IS.
