Practicing Self Care And Loving The Body Temple
Rituals To Love Your Body
Most of the time, we focus on what's wrong with our bodies, trying to heal the parts that aren't working well.
Focus On The Parts That Are Functioning Well
If you are reading this, you want to improve and expand your way of life.
You aren't interested in gathering more information, you want action.
You're shifting toward a new way of living.
Maybe you have been building rituals into your daily life, bringing your attention to improvements that will allow you to stimulate your creative forces.
'To change the world we first have to change ourselves.' Deepak Chopra.
Start by changing your focus.
As you practice this new focus, you will improve and advance.
Eventually, the advancements bring real-life changes into your life.
Momentum replaces inertia, and then you are pulled forward by your own practice.
Treat your body as a temple so it contributes to your ability to share your gift with the world.
You don't have to have the perfect body to contribute your gifts.
Don't compare yourself with anyone else.
We are all here with different challenges and advantages to overcome.
Our gifts are different as well.
Steven Hawking, Stevie Wonder, and Michael J Fox are all individuals that had physical imperfections or challenges with a disease.
They didn't let that get in the way of sharing their gift with the world.
What is getting in the way for you?
The first step is to discover what it is that is preventing you from contributing.
Look at your body as a functioning whole.
The body is a community of parts that function together.
Your blood flows to all areas of your body, the various systems work throughout your body to connect and heal, clear debris.
The systems work to provide essential minerals and nutrients that help you function at your best level.
Sit quietly and scan your body.
Take an inventory, then place your attention on all of the areas that work well.
Give gratitude to these functioning parts of the body temple.
Be grateful for the sharpness of your brain, your functioning heart, your kidneys, your stomach. Begin at the bottoms of your feet and slowly work upwards, being grateful for each small spot.
Go slowly.
If you discover an area that is stuck or problematic, don't focus on it, but make a small note of it for future reference.
Move all the way up through your body, appreciating each functioning part, and giving thanks for how they work together as the ultimate machine.
- This is the body you are using to express your gifts, so infuse it with light and love.
- Insert the color pink into it and let it float gently in your love.
- Now take that joy and appreciation for the parts that are amazing and shift it to one of the areas that are not working.
Bring that light and appreciation to the part that needs this loving nourishment and let it linger there.
Don't judge, just listen.
Listen to what you hear your body is telling you.
Pay attention to small clues that might come to you.
- Do you need more exercise, better food, do you need to stop abusing alcohol or other substances?
- The message that you hear might be that you are on the right track.
- Continue doing what you are doing to support healing.
Your body temple is full of light and it's capable of great healing.
You are using it as a vehicle for expression, nurture and love it, take care of it, and take it for a walk, like a beloved pet.
Above all, listen to what it is telling you. It knows what it needs.
