Hi,I’m Shania. Let me start by saying I’m very excited to start sharing some of my stories with all of you. I heard about Vocal through Facebook and I thought I would be a great Opportunity for me to share some of my posts,interests,likes and dislikes and maybe some “feeling of the day” kind of stories/posts. My background? I am very photogenic,I love to be out and about everyday, and I am COMPLETELY in love with entertainment. Singing,dancing,acting. Anything that’ll make me feel free, and make me feel like I can let go for just a moment. I love theatre,especially musicals and broadway. I mostly love to sing,though. Music has always been my most favorite passion. It’s like the love of my life. I started singing when I was 3 years old and I haven’t stopped since then. I’ve always felt this strong, and amazing connection with music. I guess I could say music and I hit it off the bat the moment we met. Every genre, every instrument, every lyric,every word, every song, they all made me feel like I was in different places and I felt like a different person everytime. I would feel like a cowgirl, a burlesque dancer,a gypsy dancer, the belle of the ball,a soul train dancer. Anything I listen to makes me feel like any type of dancer. Of course there are songs I don’t like,but I just really enjoy music and listening to different songs every once in a while (we all get tired of the same old same old sometimes,let’s be honest). Yes,I’ve had haters,but that didn’t stop me not one bit. And I’m not gonna stop even if the hate came harder. Because,when you have ambition and strong love for something, that conquers all.And I want to be able to express that with you all through My Vocal. Other interesting facts about moi? My favorite color is blue, favorite food is pasta. Favorite hobbies? Well,besides entertainment,swimming,tennis, and writing poetry and stories. Having Creativity with a creative mind is awesome,even when all you need is a pen and some paper. Or music and a microphone. I think it’s great to embrace your own creativity. Nobody should have to hide it. I mean,forget what others say,right? Your talent is your talent. Be proud of it. Be grateful for it. When I heard about Vocal,I thought it was interesting for me. I mean,I have Facebook and Instagram and,sure you can express yourself on them too,but I just thought this was something more exciting for me to try. To be able to express my true self on different type of social media. Thing I learned in life is to always be yourself and to let no one take that away from you or make you feel like you have to put them above yourself and love yourself for who you are. Your talent(s),who you are as person,even before your first relationship with someone,wherever you go and whatever you do,REMAIN YOU,BOO!! Nobody can change who you are,not even if you’re gay,straight,bi,transgendered,black,white,brown,red,yellow. Be who you are. No one can control that or take that away from you. You are beautiful. You are strong. Your heart is pure gold. Your soul is a precious diamond. You are the sailor of the sea. You see the dream, you want that dream, you make that dream come true. Like Jessie J said “Sometimes it hard to follow your heart. Tears don’t mean your losing,everybody’s bruising. Just be true to who you are”. Let no one tell you “you can’t”, “you won’t”, or “you’re worthless”. There are gonna be haterade drinkers out there in the world,but the lovers and the love you have for the passion and the goal(s) you want are always going to outweigh them. Which is what I choose to express to you all in this first story. As you see at the top is a video. It’s an intro to my YouTube channel,which I’ve had for a year now and an awesome success so far. ☺️Nothing major,but just something I love doing. I do hope you all enjoy. Controlling People
All my life since I was a kid,I’ve felt controlled. Whatever I thought of doing or wanted to do,fear had stopped me everytime. Like I was pushed around or kicked down,even when I had a chance at happiness when it was right in my face or in my reach. You try to do something right or try to help only to have dirt kicked in your face or spat on for even trying to do some kindness and good for others. And to feel forced to keep doing good for them knowing you’re just gonna get treated the same way and having to keep your head down or blind yourself to it....that was difficult and saddening. I was so used to hollering,screaming and name calling that sometimes I don’t know when someone is just talking to me peacefully. Or I worry if I get or do something,the hollering and screaming matches begin. Sometimes I hesitated to pick something up or make myself something to eat because I was afraid it would be a target for an argument. Let me not forget the sound of broken materials and seeing little pieces of them on the floor. The whole house would look like the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina or a tsunami and you’re always the one stuck to clean it up,which also became a problem if it wasn’t. Yeah,I know. It’s more brutal than you think it is. Try spending your childhood listening to people who don’t even love you at all calling you names you never thought you’d hear as a child,making a big deal about little pieces of garbage on the floor,or starting random arguments out of the blue just to get a rise out of it. And anything you did right,always wrong. It was always a problem,no matter what. You deal with it for so long that it’s too close for comfort. Hell is a place you call home. When you’re young,you have no choice but to come home to it. Worse about it is you can’t say anything. It’ll make it worse. Especially upon you. Oh,the pressures of all the abuse. Emotionally, physically, mentally and verbally. Almost makes you believe this Is the life you were meant for. To be stuck in this abuse cycle for the rest of your life. No hope for freedom,peace, or happiness. Just stuck being screamed at or worried for it until the life is done for. Walking on eggshells being hard to do. Tears and heartache lay in and on your beds and pillows every night. Losing sleep because of worry and fear. Can’t even sit down for a second without that becoming drama either. You dream everyday of filling the empty space in your heart with peace and happiness,the world being rainbows and butterflies when it isn’t. Seeing some families happy and smiling,enjoying their time out and about whether it’s out to eat, at a park or at an amusement park. And you look at what you go through right now thinking “why can’t I have a life like that?” Or “how come we can’t go out in public without worrying about hollering and screaming everyday?”. To have the opposite happen is an impossibility for yoy because you've dealt with it your whole life!! Being a little older now,I know that I don’t want to spend the rest of my life tolerating that kind of nonsense anymore and I don’t feel like I have to. Family member,friend,girlfriend,boyfriend,stranger. What time do I or should I have for that anymore when I can just easily walk away from it and not look back at it at all? Heck, why should I waste anytime on what I don’t have to deal with or tolerate? I don’t have to stay in the bull crap people want to pull. I don’t have to pull it along anywhere I go. I’m not going to let it chain me up or make me feel chained up. I’m not going to let it dwell on me or take over me and my life any longer. You can only take so much until you have enough and a person can and will do to you what you allow them to. But,no more. It’s my turn to call the shots now. It’s my turn to run the show. It’s my turn to say what I need to say. It’s my turn to feel free for once.

It Only Took One Minute.......
It only took a minute. I was sitting at the computer in my office when the phone rang. I picked up the receiver and then laid it down my desk as I went to find the student who the call was for. Within seconds I was back at my desk, ready to resume typing, when I heard the student yelling obscenities at me for listening in to his call through the handset that was still lying on the desk. Sick and tired of the lies he was spewing, I was up running down the hall, ready to kill him. By the time I reached him, I had calmed enough not to hurt him, but as I turned back towards my room, I knew that I couldn’t go on like this any longer. The decision was clear. I had to leave.

Pivot really fast
Starting a business is never easy, aside from all the work it takes out of you, it also comes with very little guarantee of success and there is a high chance of failure regardless of your strategy. I started a business with a friend, which eventually failed down the line due to our inability to pivot and adapt to the changing environment, but what struck me the most was how fast my partner was willing to give up on the whole endeavor. In his mind, if our first strategy didn’t work, then the whole endeavor wasn’t worth it any ways, We would be better off doing something completely different. In the same way, there are people out there who, after trying one strategy in a specific sector, once that strategy lets them down, abandon completely instead of pivoting and keep going.

The Business of Nature
Dew drops reflected the light of the sun. The inhabitants of Whispering Woods woke up to the golden droplets of water on the leaves of the flora. The oaks particularly enjoyed the light and the maples did, too. Happiness enveloped all who lived there, even the rocks that cried out in the night delighted in the morning.
