2020 - 2022 - years of harsh realities, tough time and scary memories, left us just in the fear of life. Restricted and masked living for the last 2 years to stave off COVID-19 has raised a question about the purpose and meaning of life. What is the meaning of life? What is our purpose of life?

Some people say it is to live a happy life and take in as much pleasure as one can. Life means live to the fullest, enjoying every single second. A youngster wants to spend his days with friends, pursuing trivial pleasures. An adult seeks the pleasure of earning money as much as he can, for a comfortably happy life.

A middle-aged man begins to worry about his future, and all he wants is to get the support of his children in his old age. But he also wants to ensure a secure future for his children. So, he may say that providing for one’s children is the purpose of life. There is nothing wrong in seeking to be happy in life. There is nothing wrong in being merry and cheerful. Life, really, means being useful and creating smiles on other's faces.

But, unfortunately, the whole concept of life has been changed today. The pursuits of pleasure have brought forth the struggles for life. The music of life has been down. Nature is taking a toll upon the reckless human race. An invisible virus has taken away the main essence of life.

Humanity teaches to keep connected, CoronaVirus forced to maintain a distance. But, be sure, it advocates only for physical distance, not for emotional distance. Still, we can help one another in this hard time where people are struggling for Oxygen and striving for survival. Please, don't shake hands, but keep emotionally connected.

Face is the God-gifted index, but the Virus forced to keep it masked. Masking yourself is just like hiding your Identity that is not at all the purpose of life. Working from home is only  mechanical, without having a team-spirit and emotional connectivity.  Online Teaching is just like a  one-way-traffic causing learning hazards. It loses  student-faculty contact, cooperation among students, active learning, prompt feedback, time-based task, high expectations, respects to diverse talents and ways of learning. Education sector has been the most affected one and students suffered the most. Living, earning, learning and dealing, all suddenly came to a nightmarish standstill. But, it all happened due to the human greed. The greed of mankind has led to grave danger to the future of the environment and life on earth.

Mr. K J Varghese has rightly said about the adverse impact of human activities on the ecology. “Man has destroyed the earth and its resources. His greed has been the cause of natural calamities, climate change, global warming and great damage to the environment". The result of this human greed is the present pandemic. Nature taking revenge.

However, every negative occurrence has a positive ending. The time taught us a great lesson. It reminded the philosophy of life- be human and live for human beings. Create smile on the faces of others. Man was actually flying high, forgetting the root and ground, searching for happiness in the uncertain. The virus taught the real meaning of life and happiness - live together and care for family, it will give the real happiness. As a matter of fact, the forgotten ideas of oneness, interconnectedness and the intelligent laws which govern the universe have come to the fore once again. The outbreak of virus has shown the consequences of man's growing interference with nature and wildlife.

Remember the lines of Bhagavad Gita, " Whatever happened, happened for the good; Whatever is happening, is happening for the good; and whatever will happen,  will also happen for the good". It, of course, warrants us to evolve to find equilibrium to face the unending uncertainties.

The pandemic has really shattered the arrogance of humans of being supreme and the master of all living and non-living beings around. The main lesson learnt is that we are just the part of the larger design that is nature and have got to live that way, not at the expense of others. If we interfere with nature, nature will take upon us.

So, now live and let live, otherwise God is watching us, mother nature won't forgive us.

Hoping for all the best and wonderful, a very very Healthy, Happy and Prosperous day to Everyone!

May all prosper, may all rise, defeat thy demons, make this world happy, loving and bright
