Daily Routine

It's hard to stay motivated while our worlds have suddenly shrunk to the size of our apartments, so here is some advice to help make your day as productive and active as possible.

Set your alarm and don't press snooze

It's easy to turn off that daily alarm clock to sleep in late due to the unexpected change in circumstances in our working day. The best thing we can do is keep to a routine. Choose a time and get up to start your day and however tempting it is to hit the snooze button, it's better to get up when you first wake as it can often make you feel sleepier and far more groggy at the start of your day.

Get moving first thing in the morning

Shake off the cobwebs and get your body moving by starting the day with Sun Salutations or a HIIT workout to get your blood pumping and increase productivity.

Shower and dress for the day

However much we love a pyjama day, this treat should probably be kept for binging Netflix on the weekend. There is a saying, 'you look the way you feel’- we believe this to be true. The better you look the better and more productive you will feel. So have a shower, put on adult clothing and start your day right.

Have a set place for work

It’s tempting to work from your bed or on the sofa when working from home, but you will find that setting yourself a specific space to do your work is much healthier for your mind and your productivity. This gives your mind a specific place that is set for concentrating on work and allows your brain to know when to shut off when relaxing after work.

Schedule breaks

Give yourself time during the day to get away from your desk, take time to walk around the apartment or if you are able to comply with government guidelines take a walk around the Island.

Make time for exercise

Probably the most important part of keeping up your health while in isolation (as a personal trainer I might be biased on this subject) put aside time each day to get a sweat on. There are so many great sources for this including YouTube and Instagram. We will also be sending out daily workouts and videos to help you keep fit and healthy so keep an eye out.

Tidy up each evening

Make sure you put away your work at the end of your scheduled working day. It’s easy when your working from home to just continue to work after dinner. Put your laptop away so you won’t feel tempted, Your time is precious. A tidy space is a tidy mind and helps you set this time aside to catch up with your favourite TV series, play a board game with your housemates or read a book.

Make sure you call your friends and family

In this time of multiple electronic devices it's a lot easier to stay in contact with your friends and family than in the past . Speaking to your friends and family is a great way to Improve your mental wellness and is a great way to help others feel less alone. The feeling of isolation this year, will be something few of us have experienced before but with the tight community we suround our selves with we will prevail.

Remember, you are not alone.
