And if you find that you’re not good at something, look for a new career or work or anything the one where your efforts will be appreciated more than they will be in what is already a difficult job market. It takes diligence and perseverance two of many qualities known as work ethic. But even these attributes require drive and direction in order to succeed.

Discipline yourself to take action every day towards achieving your goals. This means making time each day to get things done and being committed enough to follow through on them no matter how small they may seem.

4) Find ways to relax in between periods of work

Sometimes workdays can be really long. You may not even realize how much time you're spending in front of your computer screen. It's important that you take time to pause and take a break before moving on with another task. A few ideas for taking a breather: Head outside for a breath of fresh air, meditate, or do some light stretches. It'll help you refocus and make sure you don't get burned out by staying at your desk all day.

Try going offline while you work through a problem: Just as it's easier to find inspiration when we let our minds wander, it's also easier to focus when we force ourselves offline. When you need an extra boost of concentration, turn off your Wi-Fi connection and enjoy peace and quiet for 15 minutes. Take regular breaks during each session: If possible, set aside blocks of time each day where you'll stop working completely even if it's just for 10 minutes. The idea is that these mini-breaks will prevent burnout down the road by preventing us from constantly working without a rest period in between sessions.

5) Delegate if possible

If you’re in a position of leadership or management at work, delegate tasks to members of your team. The more time you spend on routine and repetitive tasks, such as organizing employee benefits, answering emails, and filling out invoices, the less time you have for high-level problem-solving.

You can also save valuable time by delegating tasks when possible. Whether it’s coordinating with vendors or collaborating with members of your team on project work, get them involved in taking care of business so that you can focus on bigger picture initiatives that will move your company forward.

6) Just Because You Can Doesn’t Mean You Should

Sometimes, it’s possible to do too much. As a general rule of thumb, if your time would be better spent working than socializing, then you probably shouldn’t be doing that thing. It can help to ask yourself whether a task could realistically take up most of your day and how many days you’d spend on it or whether you could finish it in under an hour (if so, don’t even think about procrastinating).
