If you find yourself plenty motivated in the warmth of summer but more than a bit lethargic once the cold weather comes, you’re certainly not alone. One of the biggest challenges we face in the cold weather is staying motivated. It's easy to let ourselves get bogged down by the gray skies and frigid temperatures, but it's important to stay focused on our goals and push through.

That moment when you look outside your window and you can just feel the cold air wrapping itself all over your body, the wind swooshing around, and the sprinkling rain making everything wet and sticky. Yeah, all you want to do is cancel the day and go back to bed—we know, we’ve been there.

Unfortunately, there’s no winter-long holiday for us to hibernate straight through, so here’s how to stay motivated in the cold weather:

1. Find winter-themed motivation

One way to stay motivated in winter is to find inspiration in the season itself. Look for quotes or images that remind you of the beauty of winter, and keep them around as a source of motivation. When you're feeling down, take a moment to look at these inspiring messages and remember why you're working hard.

2. Stand near a window

The view from inside can be dull and boring, but the view from a window might motivate you. Take a few moments during your day to stand in front of a window and look at the activities taking place outside. This will remind you that life is happening all around you, even if it's not happening in the way you want it to.

3. Get a winter hobby

When the weather is bad, it can be hard to get out and do anything. Instead of letting yourself get stuck in a rut, start a winter hobby. This can be something as simple as reading, knitting, or baking. When you have something to focus on, you won't have as much time to mope about the weather.

4. Watch a motivational movie

Sometimes, there's nothing better than sitting back and watching a movie that inspires you. Look for movies that remind you of your goals, or watch a comedy if you need a break from work. Whatever it is, make sure you pick something that will motivate you on your way to success.

5. Dress the part

There's no reason why you can't look good while working hard. Get dressed in clothes that make you feel motivated, and wear them every single day, whether or not you have work or school. By putting on the right clothes every morning, you'll be reminded of your goals and ready to take on the day.

Certain things happen only during the cold season, so try to make the best of it and enjoy the magic moments. From Halloween and pumpkin patches to Christmas and all the fun snow activities, actively participating in everything the cold weather brings along makes it fun, exciting, and memorable.

Instead of dreading getting out in the morning, think about the gorgeous Christmas lights you’ll see on your way to work... This is the season to be jolly after all!

Keep in mind, motivation comes and goes with the wind, and it might be a little tough to stimulate when the last signs of summer fade away. Nevertheless, the seasons must change, and if we’re always grumpy and unmotivated when it happens, so do we.
