If you are someone thinking about starting an online, work from home business, then you need to do some research on the market.

By following the steps below, you can ensure you are prepared and know your niche thoroughly before starting this business.

Identify Your Passions

What are you passionate about?

What are you interested in?

If you don't already know the answers to these questions, this is where you should start.

You don't want to own a business you have no interest or don't care aobut because you will quit when it gets tough. And there will be tough days.

However, it doesn't have to be the perfect fit. You just need to have some interest in your niche.

Just take some time and write down ten things you are passionate about/have some interest in.

Does it solve a problem?

Now, you need to figure out which of these niches (if any) can solve a problem.

Narrow down your list to those that can. Conduct research online to help you understand if people are looking for problems to be solved in your niche. You can use Google, Reddit, forums, etc. Do searches of your niche through social media to get a better understanding of your niche as well.

What about the competition?

Well, having no competition is definitely bad. You want a niche to have some competition.

But you also have to be very careful that your niche is overly saturated. If there is too much competition, you will have a tough time standing out to make any money.

Take some time to research the competition sites in your niche. You also want to try and analyze if there is room for you to come into the niche and take a piece of the pie.

You have to be able to differentiate yourself from the rest of the competition in the niche that you choose.

However, if other business owners aren't creating high-quality content, it won't be hard for you to outrank them.

This is why it is important to research competing sites because you can see if you have a chance to rank in your niche.

The goal is to find a niche with a good amount of competion that you are confident you can rank in.

Is my niche profitable?

This is very important.

At this point, you should have narrowed it down to just a few niche choices.

It is important now to analyze the remaining choices to see if you can profit in that niche.

There really is no point to create a business around something that isn't profitable unless you want to go bankrupt.

Go on sites like Click Bank and search for products in your niche. You don't want there to be too little or too many. It should be a healthy number of products.

If it is too little, there won't be any products in the niche to make money with. That means it is hard to monetize your niche. If there are too many, it is a niche that is overly saturated. You don't want either of those things.

The Moment of Truth

You are now armed with the information that you need to choose a niche that you can succeed in when creating a business.

Whatever you choose to do, you now have the information it takes to succeed. So, there are no excuses!

Get started today by creating a business in the niche that you have chosen. If you haven't been able to fully narrow it down yet, just take some more time and do some more research. It will come to you.

You can do a deeper dive into the niche choices that you have narrowed it down to and see what different types of business ideas exist for those niches.

I have recently started to make micro niche sites myself. Choosing a niche is a big part of the process.

However, I created folders and list article title ideas once I have chosen a niche. I basically map out each site. If I can successfully do this for the first 20 articles, then I know I can successfuly create a blog for that niche.

I am hoping putting this type of plan in action for finding each of the niches will help me successfully build a group of money-making micro niche sites.
