How To Be Positive When Things Are Good… And Even When They’re Not

As humans we often tend to think negative thoughts, it’s a part of life. There’s nothing wrong with having a negative thought or two come and go through out the day. When we begin to set our focus on that negativity, it can become a problem that can drag us down to the point where nothing is good anymore. Nothing is positive, nothing is good for us, nothing is helpful.

A close friend of mine used to always say “If you search for the good you’ll find it, if you search for the bad you’ll find it.” Although nothing in life ever seems to be certain, it’s important to know that we can push ourselves to find the good in everything that happens to us. These things can be small such as having to wake up too early for work, getting too much homework, feeling a little more tired than usual. They can be bigger as well such as getting into an accident, losing a loved one or losing a job during difficult times.

No matter how difficult things can get, there is always a light somewhere although we often have to search for it as it won’t be given to us in an obvious way. Something good is coming, no matter how small or shrouded. Here are 3 quotes to read that can help uncover positive light in difficult darkness, I’ll add a link to the website I got them from HERE.

“Courage doesn’t always roar. Sometimes courage is the quiet voice at the end of the day saying, I will try again tomorrow.” — Mary Anne Radmacher

“In the depth of winter, I finally learned that within me there lay an invincible summer.” — Albert Camus

“Make up your mind that no matter what comes your way, no matter how difficult, no matter how unfair, you will do more than simply survive. You will thrive in spite of it.” — Joel Osteen

Every day of life will be full of decisions, thoughts and challenges. Our greatest tool in moving forward day to day is positive thinking. Deciding before the challenge comes that we won’t be defeated and we will keep a positive mindset.

Understand that having a positive mindset does not mean that everything will suddenly become easy. Oftentimes we are caught up in looking for quick fixes or overnight remedies. We even spend money on things that we believe will make life become a paradise. Being positive means knowing that no matter how bad things get, eventually they will get better. If you look back at how much you have already overcome, I can guarantee that you will feel confidence in realizing that you’re doing much better than you thought you were.

Have you ever noticed that you change with time? If you look back at who you were 6 months ago do you feel the same? The general answer is almost always no. We learn as we live, our circumstances change and we grow. When we look back we should try to give ourselves the benefit of the doubt. The mistakes we made before make us who we are today but that does not mean that we should sit on them thinking as if they were still relevent today.

Move forward looking for the good in everything that comes into your life. It won't always be easy to spot, and sometimes it will take patience to find it, like putting together a puzzle or searching for your lost keys. But it's always there. The trick is to know it's there even before you find it. It will be waiting for you.
