From another point of view, we can only live in the present moment

He said everything gets done at least twice, once (or many times) in your head for planning and once in the real world for getting it done.

Many things are not difficult to do in the real world, but they may be done in your head no less than 100 times and delayed.

This creates an endless amount of mental internal consumption, which is the amount of brain work that comes from procrastination and the destruction of our spirit by mental internal consumption.

So, a useful and concrete suggestion is that if something takes less than two minutes, don't plan it, but do it right away.

Because the amount of mental effort it will take for you to plan, record, and set reminders will probably be far greater than two minutes.

It's also important to keep reality and thinking in sync, as much as possible.

If something has been generated in your head, then you make sure you do away with it in real life or terminate it in the real world.

Both of these ways, to some extent, can solve the problem of mental internal consumption, and are ways to clean up the excess processes in your head and free up memory and arithmetic power.

Indeed, many times we are constantly wrestling with a problem that probably if we just go ahead and do it, we will find will not be as hard as we thought at all.

But we can, to a large extent, amplify this negative feeling because of our subjective thoughts and fears.

Many times we may feel that to do something, necessarily requires full action, a strong desire, or drive.

But it just so happens that yesterday I read a study on 'motivation' that concluded that motivation is a result of the action, not a cause.

According to Yuji Iketani of the University of Tokyo, science has proven that the so-called "motivation" does not exist.

"Motivation" is not the cause of action, but the result of action after it has begun.

If you don't take the first step, you will never be motivated.

If you don't take the first step, you'll never get motivated. You don't get motivated first and then start acting, but you act first and gain a sense of accomplishment and self-confidence in the process, and only then will you be motivated.

As long as you are willing to take a small step first, things will become more and more smooth.

In addition to small things you can start doing directly, we can also break down large tasks into tasks small enough that we can go straight to execution.

Many times the reason we don't execute enough is that the thing we are facing is too big, like a big mountain, and we can't get right down to it.

But when you break it down to a small enough size, naturally you don't need any execution, but will go straight to the action, because at this time, there is a match between it and our ability.

It's like a foolish man moving a mountain, and the day arching will come to an end without expectation.

From another point of view, we can only live in the present moment, because we can't just come up and do this big thing directly.

Rather, we need to break down the task into different stages to accomplish it.

In the Tao Te Ching, it is said that a journey of a thousand miles begins with the first step.

Even the biggest things come from accumulating little by little.

If you want to finish reading a book, it is inevitable to read page by page, but it is impossible to be achieved overnight.

If you want to run a 5 km, you need to finish it with your left foot more than your right foot and keep repeating the cycle.

So by breaking it down, we can not only improve our execution but also reduce our sense of intimidation, including improving self-confidence.

Eventually, this sense of control will extend to all aspects of life.

Even if it starts with one small thing, it will eventually extend to more aspects, just like a spark that can start a prairie fire.

This allows us to live better at the moment and do this one thing with all our might!
