Focusing on Positivity

The Things You Can Do

No matter how hard life gets, or how deeply you fall into darkness, you must remember to stay positive. When it feels like you’re all alone and you’re the only one that can understand yourself remember that you’re still living and breathing. Remember how lucky you are to have been given a chance at life. There are people that don’t get to live past birth. There are people that never reach it to their teenage years or to adulthood. There are people that would give anything to have the life you are living right now, and you may wonder why. If you think your life is bad, why would someone else appreciate it? It’s because there are those that only focus on the positives, even if the negatives outweigh them. Life is filled with positivity. Life itself is positive. Our very existence is a miracle. It’s something we should be taking full advantage of. We’ve been born into a world that we can learn from and evolve. Our possibilities are endless. We can be anyone and we can do anything. This is what should inspire us and make us feel positive.

Every day should be a positive one, even if it doesn’t begin that way. We all have our "off" days, the days where we feel worthless, rundown, or not ourselves. We all have days that we never want to look back on or relive. However, if we remember that there cannot be shadows without light, we’ll see the light at its brightest. Through all the bad, focus on that one positive thing that will pull you through. This could be a person, a memory, even something you are looking forward to in the future. This positivity will lead to your happiness. It will drive you forward. Work out what positivity means to you. Is it a smile? Is it getting through the day without having anything to worry about? Is it seeing the change in yourself or in someone else?

You need to stay positive. You need to. What’s the point of getting wrapped up in negativity or worrying about things that are trivial when life goes too fast? Before you know it, years of your life will have gone by in the blink of an eye and you won’t even realise how much of it was significant until you look back. But you don’t want to look back and regret not focusing on the positives.

So what do you need to do? In order to focus on the positives, you need to cut out the negatives, all the negative forms that surround you in your daily life. Forget about the friends that are bad influences, the ones that bring you down, and focus on the ones that bring out the best in you. The ones that share the same values as you. You may think that it’s important in life to be popular, but personally I’d rather work my ass off every day and become successful and then see who my true friends are, rather than wasting precious time with countless people who don’t even care about me or what I do. You can be investing your time into so many bigger and better things, and realise that yeah life is hard but you can make it so much easier. You just have to be willing to work towards your happiness and make it better.

Then find your positive place, whether that be your home, a park, or a museum. Whatever it is you love. It could even be a space in the back of your mind. This needs to be your go-to place when you are feeling down. This needs to be the place that inspires you and makes you see what truly matters. However, the most important thing to remember is that you create positivity. What you choose to do and how you choose to see the world will determine whether you are willing to focus on the positives. If you have a negative mind then, of course, you’re going to see the negatives in everything. Change your mind-set. Become a better person and believe that you can always do better and be better. Believe that you’re in charge of your happiness because you are. Focus on what’s important and you will see each and every positive. The negatives will be lingering in the back of your mind, but that’s where you’ll keep them.
