Finding the Strength to Stand up

Rise Up and Be Heard

Standing up for what you believe in can be hard when everyone is telling you that doing so will hurt you in the long run, however, letting your opinion be known will always help not only you but those around you know that they can say what needs to be said. It can be difficult to know when the right time is to speak your mind, most people will pick a time of turmoil and talk about that, and when things are somewhat good not say anything at all. If this is how you feel then you say so no matter when the time is, life is too short to live a box only coming out when it suits you or you can be heard the loudest. Quietly sitting back while others struggle to get their point across when you could join them and make a loud statement that people will hear for miles around is only going kill a piece of your soul. Speak on the issues that matter to you and don’t let others try to stop you from getting your message out to the ones who need hear it; at the end of the day what will be left when you are dead and gone are the messages that you left and the impact that they had on the people that heard them.

I recently found myself watching someone pour the heart out about a system that they used for a long time and the way that the system has been treating not only them but others like them and their realization that is was time for them to leave and start something new. For almost two hours this person talked about how over the years they had been having problem after problem and when they tried to speak about it they were essentially shut down by the powers that be. I found that I didn’t understand why it took them so long to walk away from something that was at one point hurting them, but they explained that they felt compelled to stay. I had always heard others talk about the system in the same way but they too had stayed and I just didn’t understand why they didn’t just leave and find a way to do the same thing elsewhere. I guess when you have been doing something for so long it is hard to break from what you know even it is causing more harm than good not just financially but mentally as well.

Another thing that I noticed is that people only speak up when it is convenient for them to do so; these people wait until a tragic event happens and then they say something or try to act as if they care about what is going on in the world. It should not take some crazy catastrophe for people to come together and say that things need to change, things have needed to change for a long time and people have been trying to change them in silence. We need to start making noise all the time and not when we see others are doing so, the louder we are the more people will hear us and we can start to make some necessary changes. Why is it that tragedy brings out all the fake social warriors that think they are helping by leaving a post about what is going on when things get a little too out of control. If more people stood up even when the world was not on fire we could be more aware of what needs to be done to prevent these fires from burning the whole place down and destroying those who get cause in the middle.

At the end of the day having the strength to stand up for not only what you feel but what is right is something that we all as a nation need because when push comes to shove we all need each other if we are going survive what is going on. The time has come for we as a people to stand up and let out voices be heard and really make a difference for not only ourselves but for the generations that are going to be here when we are long gone.
