Life is a game filled with ups and downs; with darkness and light; with challenges and successes. We have birthdays, breakups, graduations, deaths, uncertainty in our careers, accomplishments and frustrations; as we play along through our life stages.

Dark times may end up causing permanent alterations to the way we see the world, if we do not find ways to process them properly. However, without darkness we may not see the light of possibility or trigger the inevitable changes that are need for us to evolve to the next version of ourselves. When facing these times, we need to find a way to think outside the box. As we look to move forward, we must develop the courage within ourselves to determine what it is that we want really want to get out of life.

In life we should take the time to understand ourselves and find a way to use our strengths and talents to make our life desires come true. As we embark to find our purpose, or simply just get through life, we will hit bumps on the road during our journey, we should keep these facts in mind in order to help us navigate through those tough times:

Be Open Change

Difficult circumstances will often give you the opportunity to explore your internal self, as these are usually catalysts for discovering what you need in order to move forward through the darkness. These time bring up facts that lead you to reflect on whether your current state of life still serves you and whether or not you are living your life to fullest in the present moment. Remain flexible enough to accept changes, let go of what no longer serves you and be willing to start the next chapter. Allow yourself the space to move on accept the new state the universe wishes your life to be in.

See Good in Everything

When you start to see the good within the bad you can take lessons learned and release any fear, guilt or regret you may otherwise hold on to from a moment or experience you face. When you start to understand part you played in the situation, you can begin to grow from there. And yes! You always have a part what's happening in your life. As a job concludes, a relationship ends or you find yourself making mistakes in your business; reflect to understand what went wrong, in order to learn what to do right and not repeat the same mistakes in the future.

Never Give Up

When a person “hits rock bottom” and situations in their lives “can’t get worse” many think of throwing in the towel and giving up. But if you truly believe in what you are doing you need to understand that your current circumstance, although challenging, are only temporary and giving up is final. Your darkest hours usually are a way for life to set you up for greater days ahead.

When in your situation you feel fearful, helpless and hopeless, it may seem like life’s lows will never end and it becomes hard to see the light at the end of the tunnel. It is at these times that we must stay hopeful for a brighter tomorrow. As you shift your energy from hopeless to hopeful you can start to attract brighter days ahead, if you continue to focus on darkness the darkness will remain.

Find Your Passion

The road to happiness is found when we can share our passion to help others in some way. At time of change, aim to reflect on your inherent talents and find a way to apply your experiences and expertise to assist and you will be able to live your passion every day. Find what you get fired up about and find a way to share it!

Be Grateful

Learn to be appreciative of the negative situations in your life. And I say learn, because like most tough things in life, it takes practice. Practice gratitude everyday, even if it is just for being alive and being able to think and breathe. As you learn to embrace change, learn about yourself, persist and keep going, know that it is always darkest before dawn and if you keep faith in yourself and you continue to take action, the game of life is in your hands.

Have Faith

The power of faith is believing in yourself as you embark on your journey even when the outcome may be unknown. When you are faced with tough situations and you look at the big picture you may become fearful and overwhelmed without an obvious path for you to take. The important thing is to take action, take one step at a time, and have faith that you have the ability to make your life happen as you wish.
