Dreams

The fuel of tomorrow

An echo of tomorrow today

We all dream, each night as our heads hit the pillow, images and sensations fill our consciousness. Vivid illustrations of past, present and future places dance about as we dream beyond the here and now. We visit far off places, searching for new experiences and forms of expression while trying to understand the world around us. Some dream of themselves and others, some about places, and some of different worlds and better futures for all humankind.

We wake, eyes full with the promise of a new day as we work to fill our lives with the good things we dream about. We dream of being better people, standing for better things and building better institutions from broken promises. Carving a new day from the bedrock of yesterday, using our dreams as the tools. Those dreams of new things, experiences and people propel us forward to reaching greater heights.

We create monuments to these dreams through pen and paper, film, pencil and stone as we build tomorrow. The legacy of dreams can be found within these monuments, pieces of the human heart frozen in moments of space and time.

Dreams are important to the human condition as we yearn to make our dreams reality. To fulfill these visions of tomorrow, we create new areas of industry and beauty as we form our dreams from nothingness. Everything we have now, all the greatness we have achieved over generations past, was once nothing but dreams.

History records our visions of the future from pen to screen, the ideals we strive for and the technologies that will make life bountiful and beautiful. We imagine new ways to improve old things and create new things where there was nothing that stood before. Imagination fuels our dreams as dreams expand our ideas about imagination. Both symbiotically in tune to each other, pushing the boundaries of what we once thought possible.

In today’s day and age, we have built wonders and achieved milestones thought nothing but a dream. We have discovered secrets of time, space and gravity, cured disease and have even set foot on the moon. Yet our vision, our dreams, propel us further past today into tomorrow.

Dreams propel us farther and father each day, reaching new heights and setting the bar higher with each achievement. Dreams are truly the lifeblood of our species and of scientific development itself. They help to show us what is possible, like a blueprint for our future. Dreams dismantle what we doubt and show us a new belief dreamt from the ashes of what we thought we couldn’t do.

Dreams can be personal or collective, and each dream we hold expands the definition of what we know. Dreams have not only shaped the technological view of our future but also philosophy, education, beauty and freedom.

Dreams change the world each day as the dreamers breathe their hopes into tangible echos. From those echos, a thousand voices answer the call, sharing that dream of a better tomorrow. Each day we dream the next, creating tomorrow out of the dreams of today.

To all those out there who dream that dream of tomorrow, of all the collective dreams to propel the future into today, I honour you. Keep the dreams alive; like an ember to spark the light within tomorrow, we must always keep dreaming, building a better future from the ashes of yesterday as we reach higher towards our destiny. May all our great dreams of hope for a better tomorrow become lasting memories.
