“Being happy never goes out of style.”

Don’t Be Eye Candy, Be Soul Food

I guess you’re probably wondering what my title “Don’t be eye candy, be soul food means.” Well if you’re not, I’m sure someone is. It means that your appeal shouldn't be physical, but should come from your internal qualities. Don't just be beautiful on the outside, be beautiful on the inside as well.

“It's in those quiet little towns, at the edge of the world, that you will find the salt of the earth, people who make you feel right at home.”

Most women, As myself, are concerned about our personal appearances, and whether or not we are accepted. We are constantly seeking validation anywhere possible. I have struggled with these thoughts, and know that it is a dangerous situation to be in. But the truth is, is that we are not always going to be able to look our very best every day of the week, and be accepted by everyone. It’s kinda like being in high school where if you didn’t have the best stuff, nicest car, or your parents didn’t let you go out whenever, you were considered “not cool.” We have to make a choice, either to let the thoughts go, or cling onto them and be miserable. We were designed to be lights in this world, and see it change for the better. Be your own person, regardless of what anyone thinks, do your best, and try your hardest to live originally. True beauty doesn't come from the makeup we put on in the morning, that’s what eye candy is. True beauty comes from the heart. When you’re beautiful on the inside, it will reflect on the outside. You will have joy, kindness, compassion, sympathy, loyalty, truthfulness, joy, and poise. I don’t know about yourself, but those are some pretty awesome characteristics to have.

“It’s the ‘everyday’ experiences we encounter along the journey to who we wanna be that will define who we are when we get there."

Eye candy will only get you so far in life. When you don’t have the heart for others, it will begin to show. In my opinion, being just eye candy is one of the most unattractive traits anyone could possess. Everyone has the ability to be soul food, but it’s your choice if you would want to do the changing. Nobody, and I mean nobody, can make you beautiful on the inside. Only you can do this. Being beautiful on the inside has so many positives. You will start to attract other people to come into your life that are, as well, soul food. Your relationships with people will become better, and you will become a lot happier. I don’t know about you, but everyday I want to improve not only myself, but also be a positive person for the people around me. “Monkey see monkey do.” I take this quote to heart, because I want to work on having a better heart each day, so that I am sure that if anyone that is watching me, they see something they can gain as a positive energy. I could no longer imagine not wanting to be sympathetic towards others, only living in misery, and putting off that negative energy effecting other people with it. I pray for the ones struggling with not having a heart, because at one point I was you. You will get through this, and soon enough you will be a big bowl of yummy soul food.
