Best Tips andAdvice on Making It to the 100 Club!

What I’ve Learned in the Process…

I made it to the $100 club on Medium! Yay!

It’s an amazing feeling of accomplishment.

It’s something that you start off wanting to accomplish, but you’re not sure if you’ll ever get there.

Even though $100 is not a huge amount, it’s huge for me, and I’m told many Medium writers won’t reach this goal.

But I want that to change because if I can do it, each and every one of you can too.

It took me five months to make it to the $100 club, and here are my best tips and advice to help you get there too!

Takeaway #1

Be consistent.

Try to write every day. Although I’m a firm believer in not burning yourself out, I believe in taking the weekends off.

But writing most days is really important for success.

Takeaway #2

Try to niche down.

When you first start out on the platform, I think it’s great to write on different subject matter that you enjoy.

This way you get a feel for what you enjoy, what you’re good at, and what resonates with your followers.

Once you see what works well and what people actually want to read, that is the subject matter you should stick to.

Try to narrow it down to about 3 major topics.

Takeaway #3

Keep tabs on your stats.

The only way to know what’s working versus what’s not is to analyze your stats.

Always be aware of your view to read ratio and the percentage of how long people on average are staying on your stories.

If those averages are low, you need to figure out what you can do better and make some changes.

Takeaway #4

Find your people.

Medium is an amazing platform. To do well, you need the support of others.

Take the time to form relationships with readers and writers you connect with.

Leave thoughtful comments and helpful feedback. As you do this, you’ll be surprised at how that positive energy is returned and reciprocated.

As you support others, they’ll support you too!

Takeaway #5

Find your pubs.

Publications are another very important piece to your success here on Medium.

Finding the right pubs are key.

General pubs are great, but what really has made a difference for me is finding niche-specific pubs that cater to the particular subject matter I write about (i.e. spirituality, self-help, relationships, etc.)

This will help you to find the people that resonate with and that will support your work.

I also like to find pubs that aren’t over-saturated with too many submissions. This way my work can be viewed on the front page of the publication for much longer.

This keeps my piece fresh and generates more views.

Final Word

I started on Medium about 5 months ago. I made less than $10 my first month.

I made about $50 the 2nd month and then went down the following month to about $30.

Last month, I was just shy of making $100.

And this month, I finally made it, and it feels awesome!

Because for me it means that if I can make it to $100 (which I’m told many writers don’t), then I can definitely make it to $1,000 and beyond!

It’s an amazing feeling!

And if I can make it, you guys can definitely do it too!

Thanks to my amazing followers for all your support and for helping me achieve this goal!

Medium is a great platform for writers to gain a following while earning money to write.

Although Medium has undergone many algorithm changes, it is still possible to grow and earn on this platform

If we all work together and mutually support one another, I truly believe the sky’s the limit for us all!
