Motivational Speaker Guido Santiago introduces, “Today’s topic is balance. We all want stability in our lives.”

The audience of an inch or two of over 300 people shouts, “Yes!”

“In your life, how would you describe balance?” he points to a young lady at the front with a large pink bow at the top of her head. A pink and white wrapped dress adorns her lean structure and agrees with the white comfortable low heeled pumps that hug her tiny feet with comfort.

Standing up quickly with a smile, she reached for the nearest microphone and said, “for me, balance is accepting that good and evil, kindness and cruelty, and life and death are a part of all of us. And as humans, we must accept that life goes in many directions with us, whether we like it or not. It doesn’t need our help, it’s the opposite for us. Satisfaction is guaranteed when we are in harmony with the order of life.”

“Well put,” he said in awe. “I think what this young lady is trying to say is that our lives are like an equation, and it must be solved for us to achieve the equality and level we want for ourselves.”

“What if you aren’t good at math?” someone asks.

“Hire a tutor,” a voice suggests.

Bouts of laughter erupt and the speaker said, “You can’t hire someone to teach you how to live. And only you can live your life. So a balance must begin with you. It starts with your choice, your actions, and your decisions. It is about accepting the ups and downs, the ins and outs, and the yes and no of life. That knowledge aids in creating soundness.”

A voice from the middle of the audience shouts, as a tall female stood up, “I am Marcia. So, you are saying that if I accept that my ex-husband is a lying, cheating, irresponsible narcissist, also a cheap miser with an extra tongue, and he isn’t a lemur. That will help to sustain my life?”

The audience crackles in laughter.

“Did you know that a lemur has two tongues? My ex-husband really has a second tongue because he cusses worst than us females. And honey,” she gesticulates, turning to the line of women to her right. “I was the captain of my debate team from high school to college, to law school. I am also a criminal lawyer and have been awarded many awards for arguing many of the most difficult case in a court of Law. He can put I and most women, on pause,” Marcia relates.

The laughter doubled and while Guido waits for control.

Another voice said, “I didn’t know that there were animals with two tongues.”

Someone shared, “Yes, and their second tongue is used as a toothbrush to remove hair and debris from their toothcomb.”

“See”, Marcia adds, “His second tongue is used to degrade and dehumanized women. I would rather live with a lemur.”

More laughter strengthens the audience, and Guido didn’t wait for control, “Accepting him for who he is, flaws and imperfections, will help to steady your relationship. Unsteadiness takes focus away from us.” He clapped his hands, and the curtain behind him opens revealing a vast television.

He took a remote from his right inside jacket pocket, turns on the tv, and this image appears.

“Look at this sunrise” he instructs the audience. “Positive minds will see a new day with innovative ideas and more hope. Negative minds will see another day with increased trials added to their hopelessness. Both concepts are in all of us. Some of us can see and identify both actions in each other. Others, we have to go on an expedition of trial and errors to find it. Expeditions can be fun and a learning adventure for all. Both elements contribute to who we are.”

“A friend of mine,” another voice to his left cut in, “She loves gifts, but don’t return the kind gesture, and is always sitting on the receiving end of everything in her life. She has more complaints against life than the poor, the critically ill, the blind, cripple, deaf, dumb, and the ones on death row. Are you saying that when someone takes and refuses to give, they are contributing to the disproportion their life is riling in?”

“Yes, I am, and many aren’t aware of their actions. But accepting that order of life and things isn’t enough. It’s more effective if and when that order is practiced and followed.

For balance to attained it must be lived!

That is one of humanity’s biggest contributions to the shortcomings they grumble about their existence daily. Many people refuse to accept death. Others take but won’t give. And some believe only in success. Not understanding that life and death, give and take, failure and success follow an order. An order that humanity cannot stop or control, but can level by how they live their lives.”

“Oh, so that’s why you say, ‘I am balanced,” someone in the audience said.

“For the ones who live their lives in the right order, yes. They can say that. Not all of us can,” Guido elaborates.

Do you live your life in the correct order by accepting and living the give and take and the ups and downs of life and living.

Do you live balance?

Now I understand why many people I know have so many complaints against life. Below is my understanding of my life. I have no complaints. Life gives and it takes. I am okay with that.

Are you?

P.S. In my country, men shouldn’t cuss. I don’t know if that’s a good or a bad thing. But when and if they do, they are compared to women and called many names, ‘Mama Man’ is one of them. Men who talks too much is believe to have some female hormones in them. Lol. Jamaican’s are weirdly creative people.
